Check out the attractive folks who will have an air of importance at the wedding
MEET THE TEAM!The Lovely Parents
John and Mary Michael passed on a love of the Colorado Rocky Mountains early. Although based in Morris, IL, I see them more now than I ever did living in Indiana. You’ll likely find Dad on the dance floor and Mom near the stables.
Dan and Nancy Goulson are the reason for the season. I wouldn’t be living in Colorado without them, and we wouldn’t be having this party without them. To this day, nobody knows how much they spent on those tickets to Coach K’s last game at Cameron.
Maggie’s People
Sarah (Maid of Honor) is my sister. I can’t recall the first occasion we met, but she was probably being as loud then as she is now. Ask her who would win in a fight between her and a mini-fridge.
Scott (DePauw, Snail) is the smartest and slowest person I’ve ever met. If the ceremony doesn’t start on time…you know wHo to blame. We became fast friends after reAlizing we weren’t interested in acadeMics our senior year, instead applying our collective brain power to More creative purSuits.
Johanna (Denver) one day announced we would be going on a bike ride together. Although she came to us through nefarious connections (aka Jaspreet), I’ve liked her ever since.
McCarter (DePauw) decided we would be friends long before I did. I’m eternally grateful for her vision and tenacity in pursing a shy freshman who was scared to come out of her shell. You might recognize her from @mccartergetshigh and her collabs with CDOT
Kelly (Denver) is Beans’ all-time favorite roommate, sorry Presto. An ill-fated ride on a pedal bar in Indianapolis resulted in perhaps one of the most acclaimed Spotify playlists ever made, 16-105.
Nettie (DePauw) is the most likely candidate for “Best Halloween Costume”. We had so much fun her senior year we haven’t been allowed to live in the same city since.
Preston’s Folks
Zach Goulson (best man) met me early in his life. On his first day interning at Big Ass Fans, where I had worked for 5+ years, a coworker called me “Zach”. I don’t think we look like twins.
Zoe Storck (non-nuclear family) also met me pretty early on. Many of my friends know her as “Seattle Cousin.” If you need anything from her, email her daughter. You’ll probably get a quicker response that way.
Justin Hernandez (U of I) was wearing a denim vest and playing “Christmas In Hollis” out of his dorm room door when I met him in August 2009. He likes to ask probing questions.
Naveed Bakh (high school) is very loud and very smart. We spent a lot of time not really practicing at soccer practice, since the coaching staff regarded goalies as something of an exotic and confusing breed.
Jared Gibson (frisbee) equally qualifies for a high school or Lexington representative slot. We lived in the Hobbit Hole, conquered rubes with the Academic Team, and hiked a chunk of the Appalachian Trail together.
Gibson Gaite (Denver) has several active beefs with the bride. In February 2021, he came from Chicago to visit me for a week, and ended up sleeping on my floor for a month. He moved to Denver shortly thereafter.
Up on the Dais
John Kupar is a PCUSA minister. Can’t you tell? He and Preston have been friends since elementary school, after their mutual friend Steve moved away and they stopped fighting over him.
